Biography
Xiaoyu Jiang, Ph.D., is a Research Assistant professor in the Division of Hematology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He has published in journals including Blood and Nature Communications and has three years of product development experience at a leading bioengineering company in China. His expertise spans bioengineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, protein science, immunology, and cancer biology. Dr. Jiang has secured funding as both PI and Co-I and has contributed to NIH R01-funded studies, grants, patents, publications, and medical product development. -

Research Interests
Human Germinal center Associated Lymphoma (HGAL) is associated with prolonged survival of diffuse large B cell lymphoma and classical Hodgkin’s disease patients. We have successfully revealed HGAL’s function in B cells and B cell lymphoma, specifically, its role in B cell signaling, antigen internalization and cell motility.
Currently, we further extend our research to understand HGAL’s underlying molecular mechanism. HGAL functions as an adaptor protein; its binding motifs, together with its partners and their sub-cellular locations, determine the signaling specificity; thus, HGAL is positioned to regulate cell signaling in a spatial and temporal fashion. Traditional biochemistry tools with pools of cells cannot address HGAL’s spatiotemporal signaling, so we developed and validated new tools, methods, and animal models for successfully examining HGAL’s mechanism. -
