Dr. Kupin received a BS in Chemistry from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, and attended medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin graduating in 1980. He did his residency training in Internal Medicine at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI followed by a Nephrology Fellowship at the same institution. Dr. Kupin was on Faculty at Henry Ford Hospital as a Transplant Nephrologist from 1985-1999 establishing their first kidney transplant database and helping develop their transplant nephrology training program. From 1999 until the present time, Dr. Kupin has been a Professor of Medicine and a member of the Miami Transplant Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. As a clinical investigator on transplant immunosuppression, Dr. Kupin has extensive publications on original research projects and regularly lectures both Nationally and Internationally as an invited speaker. In addition to his clinical transplant work, Dr. Kupin is the Director of the Renal Course for first-year medical students at the Miller School of Medicine and has been recognized with faculty teaching awards for his educational efforts. He has participated in the development of the new NextGen curriculum currently employed at the medical school. Dr. Kupin focuses on all clinical aspects of kidney transplantation and is the Outpatient Satellite Director for the Pre-Transplant program.
