Dr. Timur Urakov is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Miami specializing in Spine surgery. He currently treats traumatic, degenerative and neoplastic conditions all along the spine and employs advanced technology to further improve surgical workflow. Each patient receives the most individualized surgical plan with emphasis on Minimally Invasive approaches utilizing Robotics and advanced 3D Imaging technologies. Presently, Dr. Urakov, is pioneering the use of augmented reality in neurosurgical applications. He is one of the few surgeons in the world, utilizing Heads-Up display in operating rooms. His collaborations with the specialist in computer science, bioengineering and quantum physics have set the gears in motion for further implementation of artificial intelligence, deep machine learning, advanced imaging and nanotechnology in the field of Neurosurgery.
His training began with a specialist degree in Physiology at the University Of Toronto, Canada where he then proceeded to obtain his Doctor of Medicine degree from St. George’s University, Grenada. Dr. Urakov completed both, his Neurological residency and fellowship training in complex and minimally invasive spine surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital and University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. During his training, Dr. Urakov, was the only surgeon who became a triple champion at the National Top Gun competition with Neurological Skills at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Urakov’s superb technical abilities in both open and minimally invasive spine procedures qualifies him with the flexibility to design the most optimal surgical treatment individualized to each patient.
