Thomas Plate, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, focusing on Classical Hematology at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. He earned his medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and completed residency in Internal Medicine, followed by a fellowship in Hematology and Medical Oncology at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami Health System. His research focuses on cancer-associated thrombosis and chemotherapy-associated thrombocytopenia, emphasizing the intersection of cancer, coagulation, and the immune system. Clinically, he has special interest in autoimmune blood disorders, including immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), autoimmune hemolytic anemia, immune thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP), and cold agglutinin disease.
