Biography
Dr. Thilagavathi Venkatachalam is a dedicated and highly skilled nephrologist specializing incomprehensive kidney care, including pre- and post-transplant management, hypertension,and a variety of acute and chronic kidney conditions. She earned her medical degree from TheTamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in Madras, India, and completed her InternalMedicine Residency at Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey. She then pursued advancedtraining with a Nephrology Fellowship at Cooper University Hospital and further specialized inTransplant Nephrology during her fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona.
Currently, Dr. Venkatachalam is part of the Miami Transplant Institute, where she providesexpert care to kidney transplant patients, including donor evaluation, transplant candidateselection, and post-transplant management. She has previously held leadership roles, such asMedical Director for multiple dialysis units, and has extensive experience in managingconditions like pre and post kidney transplantation care, acute kidney injury (AKI), chronickidney disease (CKD), glomerulonephritis, proteinuria, and electrolyte imbalances.
Dr. Venkatachalam is also deeply involved in education and has mentored residents and fellows innephrology. She has delivered lectures on nephrology topics, including kidney disease management,hypertension, and dialysis techniques. She is committed to advancing nephrology practices throughresearch, clinical education, and continuous professional development.
