As a native Texan, Dr. Teresa Chueng moved to Miami to complete her internal medicine residency and infectious disease fellowship. In 2022, she joined as faculty in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Dr. Chueng is passionate about the intersection of infectious diseases with addiction medicine. She is faculty at the IDEA Exchange, Florida's first syringe services program where she practices on-site and through telemedicine visits to provide low-barrier, on-demand care to people with addiction, including life-saving treatment for opioid use disorder. She is also Associate Director of the Severe Injection Related Infections (SIRI) Team at Jackson Memorial Hospital, an inpatient infectious disease and addiction consultation service that offers integrated and holistic care for people who use drugs. She co-leads the women's clinic at IDEA Exchange to provide medications for substance use disorder, wound care, contraception, and sexually transmitted infection treatment. Dr. Chueng also is a core faculty member in the Department of Medicine, where she co-runs the addiction medicine rotation to train the next generation of internal medicine residents in the midst of the opioid crisis. She also provides comprehensive HIV care at her Ryan White clinic at the UHealth Rapid Access Wellness Clinic.
