Biography
Harvard Fellowship-Trained Hip & Knee Replacement Surgeon | Miami, Florida
Dr. Steven Denyer is a Harvard fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing exclusively in total hip replacement, total knee replacement, and partial knee replacement. He completed his Adult Hip & Knee Reconstruction Fellowship at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital—the oldest hip and knee reconstruction fellowship in the United States and the birthplace of the modern anterior approach to the hip. Dr. Denyer brings the training, standards, and innovation of Harvard and Mass General to his hip and knee replacement practice in Miami.
Anterior Hip Replacement. Dr. Denyer performs muscle- and tendon-sparing direct anterior total hip replacement, including the cosmetic bikini-incision approach, using AI-assisted navigation to precisely restore leg length, implant position, and natural hip biomechanics. Compared with traditional posterior hip replacement, the anterior approach has been associated with less early pain, faster recovery, lower dislocation rates, and no routine hip precautions for most patients.
Partial & Total Knee Replacement. For patients with arthritis limited to one part of the knee—the medial compartment, lateral compartment, or patellofemoral/kneecap joint—Dr. Denyer offers unicompartmental and patellofemoral partial knee replacement, smaller tissue-preserving procedures that preserve healthy structures, natural motion, and faster recovery. When total knee replacement is needed, he uses robotic-assisted technology and quadriceps-sparing techniques when appropriate to recreate each patient’s native anatomy and deliver a stable, natural-feeling knee.
Same-Day Outpatient Surgery. A strong advocate for outpatient joint replacement, Dr. Denyer uses enhanced recovery protocols and multimodal pain management refined at Mass General—pathways designed to minimize pain and opioid use so many patients can walk within hours and recover in the comfort of their own home. Whether the goal is returning to golf, tennis, pickleball, the gym, or simply walking without pain, his approach is built to protect and restore active lifestyles at every age.
Dr. Denyer’s peer-reviewed research on hip and knee replacement outcomes has been cited more than 500 times in the orthopedic literature, and his current work focuses on robotics and artificial intelligence in joint replacement. A native Spanish speaker, he cares for patients in both English and Spanish.
Dr. Denyer welcomes referrals and second opinions for hip and knee arthritis, avascular necrosis, painful or failed joint replacement, revision surgery, and complex joint replacement cases. He operates at UHealth at SoLé Mia in North Miami and UHealth Tower in downtown Miami, serving patients throughout Miami, Aventura, North Miami Beach, Boca Raton, Sunny Isles, Brickell, Coral Gables, Kendall, Doral, and greater South Florida. -

My research focuses on improving outcomes after hip and knee replacement through better perioperative care, surgical technology, and patient-specific treatment strategies.
Areas of interest include preoperative optimization, enhanced recovery pathways, multimodal and opioid-sparing pain management, outpatient joint replacement, clinical outcomes, robotics, navigation, artificial intelligence, partial knee replacement, and patient-specific alignment strategies in total joint arthroplasty. -
