Biography
Dr. Stefanie Brown is the Chief of the Division of Internal Medicine – Pediatrics (Med-Peds), a division of dual board-certified clinicians, educators, and researchers. She is also the Internal Medicine Residency Program Director. She joined the University of Miami in 2008 and held several leadership positions including My past leadership roles include Assistant Dean for Diversity, Vice Chair for Education in the Department of Medicine, and Med-Peds Residency Program Director. She is actively involved in several university and hospital-based committees, including the executive committee for Graduate Medical Education, and the Society for Black Physicians and Scientists.
As a leader and clinician educator, Dr. Brown worked in Graduate Medical Education for 20 years. The University of Miami/Jackson Health System Internal Medicine Residency is a vanguard of early career development for its trainees in all aspects of an academic career including early training in preparation for specialization and professional development for leadership roles in medical education and healthcare administration.
As the Division Chief for Med-Peds, Dr. Brown works teaching the University of Miami residents and students at UHealth Tower, Jackson Memorial Hospital and Holtz Children’s Hospital. The mission of the division is to provide high quality evidence-based care across the lifetime of our patients and families. For our faculty, the Med-Peds division is dedicated to promoting and enhancing the clinical practice and scholarly activities of physicians trained in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics and supported subspecialties. The mission and vision of the division surround transition, education, academics clinical care and health equity.
Dr. Brown is actively involved and held leadership in several regional and national organizations. She serves on the advisory council to the Florida Chapter of the American College of Physicians, was a member of the AAMC CLASS project and was recently appointed to the American Board of Internal Medicine General Internal Medicine Specialty Board. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Physicians. -

Teaching Interests
Dr. Stefanie Brown began her clinician educator career in 2000, as a Primary Care Chief Resident, then a junior faculty at Rutgers- New Jersey Medical School and finally at the University of Miami. Dr. Brown was recruited to the university in 2008 as the Med-Peds Residency Program Director moving into the role of Internal Medicine Program Director in 2015. Her teaching interests include evidence-based medicine, leadership, and the business of medicine. She is a member of the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine and a frequent participant leader in the Duke University Teaching and Leading Evidence-based Medicine workshop. -
Research Interests
Dr. Stefanie Brown has active research in disparities in residency education and assessment, graduate medical education and resident wellness. -
