Our lab investigates the mechanisms of chronic neuropathic pain following spinal cord and peripheral nerve injuries and explores cell and gene therapies for effective treatment. We focus on restoring inhibitory GABAergic signaling and modulating NMDA receptor activity using recombinant GABAergic cells and engineered analgesic genes. Our current research includes using human-induced pluripotent stem cells, exosome-based therapies, and optogenetic approaches to develop targeted, long-lasting pain relief strategies.
