Biography
Siobhan Proksell, MD is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Digestive Health and Liver Diseases at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSM). She earned her medical degree from UMMSM and completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, where she later joined the faculty. She eventually returned to UMMSM to contribute her expertise to both the medical school and the Crohn's and Colitis Clinic.
A specialist in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Dr. Proksell’s clinical interest lies particularly in IBD during pregnancy, providing care and advancing research in this critical area. Her academic passion is medical education, and she plays a key role in shaping future physicians. She leads multiple courses across all four years of medical school and serves as the co-director for the longitudinal education initiative MAP (Medicine as a Profession). Her leadership extends beyond teaching, as she sits on several medical school committees and the Continuing Medical Education (CME) committee.Dr. Proksell has also made multiple contributions to the field, authoring numerous articles, book chapters, and reviews, while regularly presenting at local and national meetings highlighting her dedication to both patient care and education. -
