Dr. Shivank Bhatia was appointed as the Chairman of the Department of Interventional Radiology at the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine in March 2019. He graduated from BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad, India in 2000 and competed his residency and internship in Diagnostic Radiology at Civil Hospital, BJ Medical College in Ahmedabad, India. Dr. Bhatia then completed his fellowship in Interventional Radiology in 2006 at Jackson Memorial Hospital University of Miami in Miami. FL. Dr. Bhatia joined the University of Miami as a faculty in 2006. He practices at the University of Miami Hospital, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, Lennar Foundation Medical Center, and Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was appointed as the Medical Director of Interventional Radiology at the Miami VA in 2009 a role he served for 8 years. Dr. Bhatia was promoted to the rank of Professor of Interventional Radiology in 2019. Dr. Bhatia is a board-certified, fellowship-trained interventional radiologist specializing in performing minimally invasive image-guided procedures to treat enlarged prostate, uterine fibroids and liver cancer. During his 17 years of service to University of Miami Health System, he has introduced and collaborated with various specialties on numerous innovative cutting edge therapies. Some of these include the Yttrium-90 (Radio-embolization) for treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma and metastatic cancer to the liver, percutaneous ablation of renal tumors, Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. He introduced radial access to the IR department for various applications like intra-arterial Interventional Oncology therapies, Prostate Embolization and Uterine Fibroid Embolization procedures.
