Dr. Rubén A. Ferrer is a Venezuelan-born dermatologist and physician-scientist with a robust clinical and research background in inflammatory skin diseases, hair and scalp disorders, and general dermatology. He received his medical education in Venezuela, where he also began his research career, and later trained in Germany to obtain a PhD and become a board-certified dermatologist. Most recently, he served as Senior Attending Dermatologist and Head of the Trichology and Alopecia Center at Ludwig Maximilian University Munich, one of the world’s leading academic institutions. There, he also co-led the Center for Inflammatory Skin Diseases and oversaw general dermatology services. His clinical expertise spans wound healing, alopecia, and inflammatory dermatoses, while his translational research focuses on cutaneous regeneration and cell-cell interactions in health and disease, with a particular focus on scarring alopecia. Dr. Ferrer earned his M.D. and Ph.D. with honors and has led or contributed to numerous peer-reviewed publications and competitively funded research projects, including a DFG grant (German Research Council, NIH equivalent) as principal investigator. A dedicated educator and mentor, he actively supervises Ph.D. candidates and contributes to clinical teaching. He is a member of major dermatological societies and a frequent speaker at international conferences. Fluent in Spanish, English, German, Italian, and Portuguese, Dr. Ferrer is committed to integrating patient-centered care with cutting-edge dermatological science.
