Biography
Dr. Rosie Curiel Cid, PsyD, is a Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and serves as Scientific Director of the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience and Aging. An internationally recognized neuropsychologist, she specializes in the early detection and characterization of age-related cognitive decline and neurodegenerative conditions.
Dr. Curiel Cid leads innovative, interdisciplinary research focused on identifying the earliest cognitive and biological changes associated with risk of brain diseases. She is a Principal Investigator on studies advancing precision-based, computerized cognitive stress tests designed to unmask subtle deficits, and holds leadership roles in major state and federally funded longitudinal studies of aging.
Her research program centers on the development of novel cognitive paradigms that are sensitive to very early changes in brain function and closely linked to underlying biological markers. Her team has generated strong evidence that these approaches can detect subtle, preclinical changes before they are apparent on traditional measures. She is committed to translating these innovations into scalable, user-friendly tools to improve early detection and accelerate therapeutic development.
Dr. Curiel Cid is also deeply committed to education and outreach. She is passionate about teaching both lay audiences and healthcare professionals about brain health, the importance of early detection, and strategies to raise awareness and reduce the impact of cognitive decline. -

She views teaching not only as a meaningful responsibility to share knowledge, but also as a true privilege. She has a particular passion for teaching psychopathology and the principles of neuropsychological assessment. In addition, she is highly engaged in educating trainees on the evolving understanding of functional neuroanatomy, and has developed innovative curricula designed to make complex concepts accessible, clinically relevant, and easy to master. -
Research Interests
Dr. Curiel Cid’s research focuses on the development of sensitive cognitive assessment paradigms linked to disease, and their translation into robust psychometric tools. Her work aims to advance early detection of preclinical neurodegenerative changes, including those associated with Alzheimer’s disease. She is also interested in integrating state-of-the-art technologies such as virtual reality, and machine learning into cognitive assessment to enhance precision, scalability, and clinical utility. -
