Biography
Dr. Rosemeire Kanashiro-Takeuchi earned her DVM from Universidade Estadual Paulista (UNESP), Brazil, and completed her Master's and Ph.D. in Pharmacology (Physiology emphasis) at Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), Brazil. During her graduate training, she investigated the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying cardiac remodeling and dysfunction following myocardial infarction using both in vitro and in vivo approaches.
She subsequently completed postdoctoral training at Johns Hopkins University under the mentorship of Dr. Joshua Hare. In 2006, she moved to the University of Miami to continue her work with Dr. Hare at the Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute (ISCI), where she expanded her expertise in cardiovascular physiology, large-animal models of heart failure, and regenerative therapies, including stem cell- and exosome-based approaches for cardiac and renal repair following ischemic injury.
Dr. Kanashiro-Takeuchi has developed extensive expertise in cardiovascular phenotyping and imaging, including Doppler echocardiography, pressure-volume loop analysis, molecular and cellular biology, biochemical techniques, immunohistochemistry, and confocal microscopy. She has more than 20 years of research experience in cardiovascular science, with a particular focus on heart failure, cardiorenal disease, and translational large-animal models. -

Research Interests
I have a long-standing interest in understanding the molecular mechanisms that mediate cardiac remodeling and heart failure (HF), particularly, due to myocardial infarction. More recently, I have been also investigating non-ischemic models of HF, including cardio-renal and cardiometabolic models of HF with Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF) with a special interest in interactions between myocardial and systemic metabolism, obesity and cardiovascular disease, pulmonary hypertension, and aging. -
