Biography
I am an analytical biochemist with over 25 years of relevant experience in protein biochemistry and protein mass spectrometry. My career path and training has been counter current by starting in biotechnology, maturing in pharmaceutical research and focusing most recently in academia all the while working to solve challenging problems in various disease areas such as infectious disease, Alzheimers Disease, diabetes, and cancer. My lab develops and innovates mass spectrometry-based techniques to probe cancer, the immune system and fundamental biology.
I earned my PhD in Chemistry from the University of Virginia. I received my BS in Chemistry from the University of Washington. -

Research Interests
The Hendrickson lab develops and innovates mass spectrometry-based techniques to probe cancer and the immune system. By utilizing modern high resolution mass spectrometry and nanoscale liquid chromatography in conjunction biochemical processing of samples, the lab works to identify, determine the relative abundance and presence of post translational modifications on proteins and protein complexes. The technology is versatile and enables experiments from purified components, cell lysates, tissues and select fluids such as cerebral spinal fluid.
Our focus is to develop exquisitely sensitive and comprehensive technology that will enable the ability to measure the entire proteome from as few at 10,000 patient derived cells. We aim to apply this novel technology to get the right drug to the right patient (therapy selection) and to directly observe how biochemical pathways in cancer cells rewire themselves in response to treatment. We believe such observations will guide and accelerate the development of combination therapies. -
