Biography
Ron Varghese is a clinician – investigator and endocrinologist with interest in obesity, sleep disorders and metabolism. He is an Assistant Professor in Endocrinology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He has a keen interest in building a clinical and research career in Diabetes and Obesity Medicine; and in the treatment and management of complications arising due to these diseases. Recently an integrated metabolic clinic for sleep disorders was started at the University of Miami, as a collaborative effort between the Divisions of Endocrinology and Pulmonary Medicine where he is currently the endocrinologist involved in coordinating the clinical and research efforts in this area.
He is board certified in Internal medicine and in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also a diplomate in Obesity Medicine from the American Board of Obesity Medicine, and in Clinical Lipidology from the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. He has been elected to the fellowships by the American College of Physicians (FACP), Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), Southern Society of Clinical Investigation, and the International Diabetes Federation.
He completed his medical school from Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, India and then completed a fellowship in Diabetes from Christian Medical College, Vellore, India. He has also completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in Endocrinology from Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota being supported by an NIH- NRSA T32 fellowship. He completed his Internal Medicine residency training from White River Medical Center, Batesville, Arkansas and his clinical and research Endocrinology fellowship from the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland -
