Biography
Robert Kaderka works as a Medical Physicist and Assistant Professor at the University of Miami. His research focuses on knowledge-based planning and automation in both photon and proton therapy.
He holds Master of Science degrees in both Physics and Mathematics. He obtained his PhD at the GSI Helmholtz Center of Heavy Ion Research in Darmstadt, Germany. At GSI, one of Europe’s leading centers for the development of carbon ion therapy, his PhD thesis focused on measurements comparing photon, proton and carbon-ion out-of-field doses. He then continued at GSI as a postdoctoral fellow with a focus on motion management in particle therapy.
After his postdoctoral fellowship at GSI he was recruited to the University of California, San Diego where he worked on knowledge-based planning and automation in radiation therapy. He then completed his clinical residency in Medical Physics at the University of California, San Diego. After residency, he was hired as Faculty at the University of Miami where he continues his research on automation and the use of Artificial Intelligence in radiation therapy. He also teaches at the Dosimetry School, gives lectures to radiation oncology residents, supervises physics resident rotations, and mentors several students. -
