Biography
Dr. Rita Ghose Bhatia is a Professor of Clinical Radiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, with secondary appointments in Otolaryngology and Neurological Surgery. She is board-certified by the American Board of Radiology with a Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology. Dr. Bhatia serves as Associate Division Director of Neuroradiology and Medical Director of Radiology at UHealth Tower, bringing over two decades of expertise in neuroradiology, head and neck imaging, and skull base pathology.
Dr. Bhatia earned her medical degree from Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi, India, followed by an M.D. in Radiodiagnosis from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. She completed fellowship training in neuroradiology at Boston Medical Center and Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Her academic career includes service as Director of Head and Neck Radiology since 2002, leadership roles in fellowship training, and extensive contributions to multidisciplinary clinical teams.
Her research and scholarly work span advanced neuroimaging, oncologic applications, stroke, vestibular schwannomas, and skull base lesions. Dr. Bhatia has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and monographs, including contributions to Neurology in Clinical Practice and Clinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging. She is currently working on the second edition of Atlas of Normal Imaging Variations of the Brain, Skull, and Craniocervical Vasculature. Her research collaborations include NIH- and industry-funded projects in imaging biomarkers, neuro-oncology, and innovative clinical trials such as Florida’s first NF2 trial (INTUITT-NF2).
Nationally and internationally recognized, Dr. Bhatia has been invited to speak at the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), American Society of Neuroradiology (ASNR), American Society of Head and Neck Radiology (ASHNR), and the North American Skull Base Society (NASBS). She has delivered lectures globally, including at the World Congress for Endoscopic Surgery of the Paranasal Sinuses, Skull Base, Brain, and Spine.
An active educator, Dr. Bhatia has received multiple teaching awards from the Neuroradiology section for outstanding conferences and clinical rotations. She leads several multidisciplinary tumor boards and is deeply engaged in mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows.
Dr. Bhatia is a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology and holds memberships in RSNA, ASHNR, and NASBS. She has served as an abstract reviewer for both RSNA and ASNR and continues to advance the field through her service, research, and leadership.
Her dedication extends beyond academia through community service, including volunteer work with Project Medishare and service on the Board of Directors for Haiti Healthy Kids, Inc. -
