Richard K. Lee, M.D., Ph.D., is an associate professor of ophthalmology at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and has secondary appointments in the departments of cell biology and anatomy, electrical and computer engineering, and the neuroscience graduate program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Physician and clinician-scientist, Dr. Lee is a glaucoma specialist with a particular interest in neuroproetection in glaucoma and retinal degeneration, pseudoexfoliation as well as clinical outcomes of glaucoma treatments. He is the director and primary investigator of Bascom Palmer’s Ophthalmic Neuro-Rejuvenation Laboratory.
Dr. Lee completed his undergraduate degree at Pomona College in Claremont, California. He then received his medical degree and doctorate in microbiology and immunology at the University of Miami. He joined Bascom Palmer and the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1999 as a resident. He then completed three fellowships: glaucoma and ophthalmology glaucoma research at Bascom Palmer, and viral oncology research at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami. He is available for consultation in glaucoma, cataracts and intraocular lens.
