Biography
Dr. Rico is specializing in internal medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care. He completed his training in internal medicine and fellowship in pulmonary and critical care at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, he is triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care. His expertise lies in the management of ICU and complex pulmonary conditions, with a focus on infectious diseases, including tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacteria (NTM).
Dr. Rico joined the faculty at the University of Miami in 2019, where he currently serves as the Medical Director of the Inpatient Tuberculosis Unit at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr Rico has also clinical expertise in diagnosis and managing sarcoidosis , its multiple manifestations and complications
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Rico is an integral part of the NTM (Non-Tuberculous Mycobacteria) Program, focusing on the diagnosis and management of these complex infections.
Dr. Rico’s academic interests include advancing the understanding and treatment of pulmonary diseases, particularly tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, and NTM infections. He is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to his patients while actively contributing to medical education and research in the field of pulmonary and critical care medicine. -
