Dr. Ralf E. Gebhard is a Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management. He also is the Chief of the Division of Acute Pain Management and Regional Anesthesia and serves as Associate Vice Chairman for Clinical Research. Dr. Gebhard joined the University of Miami in 2006 coming from The University of Texas-Houston. In addition to his expertise in the area of Acute Pain Management, Dr. Gebhard has also proven himself to be an outstanding clinical researcher and scientist. He has conducted 25 clinical trials as a Principal Investigator and has received and has received significant grants to support his research. His area of particular interest is related to peripheral nerve block safety and complications, as well as, acute pain management in the pediatric population. Dr. Gebhard has published multiple book chapters and 30 peer reviewed articles. He currently serves as a reviewer for numerous journals including Anesthesiology, Anesthesia and Analgesia and Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. He is a frequent speaker at both national and international meetings and is considered an international expert on regional anesthesia and acute pain management.
