Dr. Qifei Li, a Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Neonatology, joined the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in April 2023. He earned his Ph.D. from Utah State University in 2015 and began his career in genetics, both clinical and research. Dr. Li completed his postdoctoral training from 2018 to 2022 in Dr. Pankaj Agrawal’s lab at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School. In 2022, Dr. Li was promoted to Research Instructor in the Department of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School.
During this time, Dr. Li contributed to novel disease gene discoveries by analyzing undiagnosed exome data and studied the role of a congenital myopathy gene in skeletal muscles using a mouse model. With over eight years of basic and clinical genetic experience, Dr. Li specializes in molecular diagnosis and novel gene discovery in rare diseases.
