Pradeep Y. Ramulu, M.D., M.H.S., Ph.D., chair of the Department of Ophthalmology and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, is a physician, researcher, and educator. Dr. Ramulu graduated from Stanford University in 1994 with a B.S. in Chemistry. In 2002, he received his M.D. and Ph.D. in Molecular Biology/Genetics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, followed by a residency in ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a fellowship in glaucoma at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. In 2009, he earned a master's degree in health services research from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Ramulu is board-certified in ophthalmology. A glaucoma specialist, he joined the Wilmer faculty in 2007 and served as chief of the glaucoma division and director of the Wilmer StARR (Stimulating Access to Research in Residency) Program. He joined the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in 2026 as chair and holder of the Kathleen and Stanley J. Glaser Chair in Ophthalmology.
