Biography
Pei-Ciao’s research interests include using human stem cell-based models to study human inner ear disease, development, and regeneration. She utilized various stem cell-derived models, including stem cell-derived inner ear organoids and the human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived Schwann cell model, to investigate the function and pathophysiology of gene mutations associated with inner ear disorders. Moreover, in combination with single cell sequencing approaches, Pei-Ciao is investigating early inner ear development using the inner ear organoid system. Her research provides a fundamental understanding of inner ear disease and development, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the development of therapeutic strategies for diverse inner ear diseases. -
