Biography
Patricia Jeudin, MD serves as the Director of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center Dysplasia Clinic, Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences and practices as a gynecologist at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Health System and Jackson Health System. She sees an extraordinary range of patients that represent the breadth of our community. Her experience as a minority physician affords her the unique opportunity and privilege to care for women who are disenfranchised with a keen understanding of complex cultural factors that affect healthcare. Her research interests have focused on examining how social determinants of health impact women’s access to health care. Specifically, her research has evaluated adequacy of both short and long-term follow-up subsequent to surgical management for high-grade cervical dysplasia among low-income and minority women in an inner city setting. With increasing diversity in the United States, the need for research among women of different cultures and ethnic backgrounds is a necessity. Furthermore, a better understanding of how poverty, low socioeconomic status, and other social determinants impact cancer occurrence and mortality is needed. These efforts have also led Dr. Jeudin to explore further research interests in women with genital precancers (cervical and anal) and devotion to improving current strategies for screening and management. It has also allowed her build a strong partnership with African Caribbean Cancer Consortium and examine the most prevalent HPV subtypes among women in the African Diaspora. She currently serves as the PI on a study entitled “Identifying High-risk Anal HPV Subtypes in Haitian men and women living with HIV in Miami.” The study is funded by the Miami Center for AIDS Research. She also examines the trends of HPV-related cancers in black sub-populations in South Florida, in addition to her clinical practice working with gynecologic diseases in patients living with HIV
