Biography
Dr. Oveimar De La Cruz completed his medical education at Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia, before pursuing postgraduate training in the United States, specializing in Internal Medicine and Transplant Infectious Diseases. From 2014 to 2020, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases at Virginia Commonwealth University. He also directed the Transplant and Immunocompromised Host Infectious Diseases Service at the Virginia Commonwealth University Medical Center during this time.
Most recently, Dr. De La Cruz completed his training in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and joined the Miami Transplant Institute at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital as a Transplant and Cardiothoracic Intensivist.
Dr. De La Cruz is passionate about cardiothoracic transplantation, peritransplant mechanical and extracorporeal life support, minimizing infectious complications, and leveraging healthcare informatics in Transplant Critical Care. -
