Biography
Dr. Oscar Flores Medrano joined the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Radiology as an Assistant Professor in September 2023. He specializes in neuroradiology with clinical interests spanning brain, spine, and head and neck imaging.
Dr. Flores Medrano earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, NY, after completing his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Physics at the University of Western Ontario in Canada. He completed his radiology residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, followed by a fellowship in Neuroradiology at Weill Cornell Medical College–New York Presbyterian Hospital. Prior to joining the University of Miami, he served as an attending neuroradiologist at Lenox Hill Hospital and Phelps Hospital within the Northwell Health system, where he also held the role of Division Chief of Neuroradiology.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Flores Medrano has contributed to research and scholarship in areas including cardiovascular imaging, cervical spine surgery outcomes, and blood pressure measurement. His work has been published in journals such as the Canadian Journal of Emergency Medicine, Canadian Journal of Cardiology, and the Journal of the American Society of Hypertension. He has also presented at national meetings, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Flores Medrano has been actively engaged in education throughout his career. He has delivered lectures on neuroradiology of trauma, brain tumors, and pediatric epilepsy, and has participated on residency and fellowship program evaluation committees at Montefiore and Weill Cornell. Dedicated to fostering diversity in medicine, he previously served as Vice President of the Black and Latino Student Organization at Columbia University.
Fluent in Spanish and French, with proficiency in several other languages, Dr. Flores Medrano brings a multicultural perspective to his practice and teaching.
