Biography
Oliver McDonald is as a physician-scientist in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. He completed his MD and PhD degrees at the University of Virginia in 2007, Anatomic Pathology residency at Johns Hopkins in 2011, and a Gastrointestinal Pathology fellowship at Johns Hopkins in 2013. He was an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University from 2013-2020, and matriculated to the University of Miami in 2021.

Research Interests
Our basic science research investigates how adaptive metabolism reprograms the pancreatic cancer epigenome during metastasis. Clinical research is focused on defining the histomorphology and molecular pathogenesis of various gastrointestinal, hepatic, and pancreaticobiliary diseases. The McDonald laboratory also provides translational pathology research support to other SCCC investigators.
