Dr. Garcia Losarcos was born in Spain. She completed her medical education at the Basque Country School of Medicine in Bilbao and residency training in Clinical Neurophysiology at Hospital Clinico San Carlos in Madrid. She then completed Neurology residency and Clinical Neurophysiology fellowship at Jackson Health System/University of Miami.
After completing her training, Dr Garcia Losarcos worked closely with the internationally recognized epileptologist and Clinical Neurophysiologist, Dr. Hans O. Luders at University Hospitals, Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr Garcia Losarcos has joined the University of Miami Comprehensive Epilepsy Center as epilepsy and intraoperative monitoring faculty. Her primary interests lie in medically resistant epilepsies, epilepsy surgery, cortical mapping, and clinical research. She holds a special focus on minimally invasive surgical techniques aimed at preserving cognitive functions post- surgery.
