My family and my teachers have been my biggest support in my career. I completed my primary education in Boston and my secondary education in Southern California. I received my undergraduate in Chemical Engineering at Berkeley and my teachers persuaded me to apply to NIH's dual degree Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP). I became interested in the biological basis of disease and pursued a PhD in Immunology while I completed my medical education at Case Western Reserve University. Exposure to ENT in medical school, led me to pursue otolaryngology residency at Temple University in Philadelphia. During residency I fell in love with laryngeal surgery and the care of patients with voice, swallowing and breathing disorders. I completed my Fellowship in Laryngeal Surgery from Massachusetts General Hospital. I saw myself in academia but upon completing fellowship there were no such opportunities. I joined a private practice in New Jersey as a Laryngologist and I was honored to receive my patients' gratitude. I joined the University of Miami when this opportunity arose.
