Dr. Monica Diaz-Kanelidis joined the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Radiology in July 2025 as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology in the Emergency and Trauma Radiology Division.
She earned her medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine and completed her internship at Holy Cross Hospital through the University of Miami. She went on to complete her diagnostic radiology residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she served as Chief Resident, and pursued additional fellowship training in Nuclear Medicine and Musculoskeletal Imaging.
Dr. Diaz-Kanelidis has contributed to the field through research and publications in World Neurosurgery and the American Journal of Gastroenterology, and she is first author of multiple chapters in the 2025 ARRS Categorical Course. Her academic interests include musculoskeletal imaging, trauma radiology, and nuclear medicine applications, and she has presented her work nationally.
She has also been recognized for her leadership and teaching, serving as Chief Resident at Jackson Memorial and coordinating residency moonlighting and scheduling programs. She has received honors such as the H. Martin Northup Leadership Award nomination and multiple community leadership recognitions.
At UM, Dr. Diaz-Kanelidis brings her multidisciplinary training and commitment to education, research, and clinical excellence to the Department of Radiology.
