Biography
Michael Kolber, PhD, MD is Professor and Vice Chair for Clinical Operations in the Department of Medicine, and he has secondary professorial appointments in the departments of Public Health Sciences, and Microbiology/Immunology. He received his MD from the University of Miami School of Medicine and completed his residency at the George Washington University Hospital in DC. After his residency he completed a medical staff fellowship at the NIH in the NCI Experimental Immunology Branch prior to coming to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Over time he assumed the Directorship of the HIV Section in the mid-1990’s and then added the Directorship of the Comprehensive AIDS Program to his activities in 2007. In the HIV field his work transitioned from basic immunology into prevention, having worked as CO-PI on the PrEP Demo Project, and now focuses on the rapid access for Test and Treat effort. He currently he serves as the local PI of for the South Florida SE AIDS Education and Training Center, PI on our Ryan White Part A contract and medical director for the Ryan White Part C program. He is also the Medical Director for the Medicare Advantage Population Health effort and has an interest in improving cost of care and access to care. -
