Dr. Gelman is the Deputy Hospital Epidemiologist at the Miami VA Healthcare System and a practicing Infectious Diseases physician. He received an MD and a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Washington and infectious diseases fellowship at Stanford University, and has experience in general infectious diseases, HIV, hepatitis C, infection control, and antimicrobial stewardship. His clinical and research interests revolve around optimizing the use and interpretation of diagnostic tests, particularly in emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases. He greatly enjoys working with fellows and residents.
