Biography
Doctor Nadji is a 1977 graduate of the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Hospital Pathology Residency Program. In July 1977, he joined the Department of Pathology as an Assistant Professor, advanced to Associate Professor in 1981, and promoted to the rank of Professor with the award of tenure in 1985. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology and holds the Specialty Certificate in Cytopathology. He has served as the Director of Immunohistochemistry, Director of Cytopathology, Director of Pathology Outreach Services and Director of Anatomic Pathology. In 2007 thru 2008, he was appointed as the Interim Chair of the Department of Pathology and Chief of Laboratory Services at Jackson Memorial Hospital.
During his tenure at the University of Miami, he established the Diagnostic Aspiration Cytology Services (1977), Diagnostic Immunohistochemistry Laboratory (1978), Pathology Consultation Services (1984), and the Research Molecular Pathology Laboratory and University of Miami Tissue Bank (1990). Dr. Nadji has trained innumerable pathology residents and fellows, many of whom are, or have been, faculty members at the University of Miami and other academic institutions, or are serving as practicing pathologists in regional, national and international laboratories. Dr. Nadji is a consultant for pathologists in South Florida, as well as in Latin America and the Caribbean Islands.
Dr. Nadji’s areas of research interest include diagnostic and predictor biomolecular markers of human solid tumors, particularly those of breast, gynecologic and prostate origin. He has authored or co-authored 205 peer-reviewed scientific papers, 3 books, 15 book chapters and monographs. He serves on the Editorial Boards of 11 Pathology and Cancer journals. He is an Honorary Member of the Iranian Academy of Medical Sciences, Honorary Member of Peruvian Society of Pathology, Colombian Association of Cytopathology, Bluegrass Visiting Professor of the University of Kentucky and Honorary Professor of Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He has represented the University of Miami as an invited speaker in more than 350 national and international scientific meetings. Dr. Nadji is also the recipient of multiple awards, including ASCP Distinguished Service Award, Florida State Society of Cytology Service Recognition Award, Florida Society of Histotechnology Pathologist of the Year Award, and several Teacher-of-the-Year Awards by the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Pathology Residents and Fellows. -
