Biography
Dr. Martin Zak is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He earned his M.D. from the 3rd Faculty of Medicine at Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic, in 2011. After completing his Internal Medicine residency at Westchester Medical Center in New York, Dr. Zak pursued a fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic.
In addition to his academic role, Dr. Zak serves as an attending physician in ICUs at the University of Miami Hospitals and Jackson Memorial Hospital. From 2021 to 2023, he served as the Medical Director of the COVID unit at UHealth Tower.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Zak is involved in clinical research, with interest in respiratory physiology, prone position ventilation, and ARDS. A passionate educator, he focuses on teaching point-of-care ultrasound at the bedside. Dr. Zak is fluent in English, Spanish, and Czech. -
