Marieta Papanikolaou

Dr. Papanikolaou is a physician-scientist dedicated to the study and treatment of itch, with particular interests in women’s health and personalized approaches to care. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Athens Medical School with highest honors (summa cum laude) and trained in dermatology and clinical research in the United Kingdom. She received a PhD from King's College London and completed a fellowship in medical dermatology at St John's Institute of Dermatology in London before joining the Miami Itch Center. She combines clinical practice with translational research to better understand the mechanisms underlying itch and translate these insights into improved patient care. Her work has been recognized with several national and international awards.
