Biography
Dr. M. Carolina Jimenez is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. She obtained her medical degree at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia. She then moved to Toronto, Canada to pursue additional training and completed a master's degree in Health Services Research at the University of Toronto - the top university in Canada, worked in eHealth with the University of Toronto and the Panamerican Health Organization (PAHO) and did research in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University Health Network (UHN) - the largest health research organization in Canada. She completed residency in General Surgery at the University of Toronto and then moved to Miami to advance her surgical knowledge and skills by completing a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery and surgical endoscopy at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System.
Her expertise in minimally invasive surgery (including surgical robotics) and endoscopic techniques, enables her to perform complex and delicate procedures through small incisions and natural orifices.
She has published in peer-reviewed journals, has published book chapters and has been invited to give talks in North America and Latin America. Dr. Jimenez is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), the American College of Surgeons (ACS), the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) the Canadian Association of General Surgeons (CAGS) and the Ontario Association of General Surgeons (OAGS). -
