Biography
Marco Aurelio Ladino Avellaneda is a distinguished medical professional with a passion for nephrology, transplant nephrology and hypertension care. With a solid academic background, Dr. Ladino Avellaneda completed his Medical Doctor and Surgeon degree at Colegio Mayor de Nuestra Señora Del Rosario in Bogota, Colombia in 2003. He then pursued further specialization in the field of Internal Medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center/Miami VA Medical Center, where he completed his residency and internship training. Driven by his commitment to excellence, Dr. Ladino Avellaneda continued his professional development by completing fellowships in various specialized areas of nephrology, including Interventional Nephrology, Transplant Nephrology, Advance Nephrology with a Research-Academic track and Hypertension (American Hypertension Specialist Certification). Dr. Ladino Avellaneda holds several prominent positions in the medical field. He serves as the Chief of Nephrology and Hypertension Section at the Bruce W. Carter Miami VA Medical Center, Associate Chief of Medicine at the same institution, Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine in the Division of Nephrology, and Associate Program Director for the Nephrology Fellowship at the University of Miami/Miami VA Medical Center/Jackson Memorial Hospital Division of Nephrology. Additionally, Dr. Ladino Avellaneda is actively involved in the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Department, where he holds the rank of Colonel as an Internal Medicine and Nephrology Officer and serves as a Consultant to the Surgeon General for Internal Medicine and Nephrology. He deployed multiple times in service to our country. Throughout his career, Dr. Ladino Avellaneda has received numerous awards and honors for his outstanding contributions to his field, including being recognized as Attending of the Year and Instructor of the Year multiple times by the University of Miami Division of Nephrology and Hypertension. With Board Certifications in Internal Medicine and Nephrology from the American Board of Internal Medicine, as well as various military training courses and licenses, Dr. Marco Aurelio Ladino Avellaneda exemplifies dedication and expertise in the medical profession. His proficiency in English and Spanish allows him to connect with a diverse range of patients, making him a respected and compassionate healthcare provider in the Miami, Florida area.
