Louis R Pizano received his medical degree from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed his general surgery training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine’s Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, NY and fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care and Trauma Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, FL. After completion of his training, he was recruited to stay at the University of Miami in 2001 as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and Associate Director of the fellowship program. Moving through the ranks, Dr. Pizano was appointed Chief of the Burn Service and Director of the UM/JM Burn Center in 2010, became the Director of the Surgical Critical Care and Trauma Surgery Fellowship Program in 2012 and has been promoted to Professor of Surgery with a secondary appointment as Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Pizano holds the C. Gillon Ward Endowed Chair in the Division of Burns and is certified by the American Board of Surgery in both General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care and is a valedictorian graduate of the executive MBA program at the University of Miami.
