Biography
Dr. Lin Zhu is a decision scientist who specializes in mathematical and computational modeling to assess the long-term population-level health and economic impacts of public health interventions. With an interdisciplinary background in medicine, epidemiology, and policy analysis, she transforms complex data into strategic insights to improve health outcomes and optimize resource allocation. Prior to joining UM as an Assistant Professor, she served as a Senior Research Engineer in the Department of Health Policy at the Stanford University School of Medicine.
Driven by a strong commitment to advancing hepatitis C elimination among people who inject drugs in the direct-acting antiviral era, Lin received a K99/R00 award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to develop a novel agent-based network model and to comparatively evaluate the health benefits and cost-effectiveness of alternative testing and treatment strategies. She collaborates with the Prevention Policy Modeling Lab at Stanford and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a sub-award PI, using her research to inform national hepatitis C elimination strategies. As a co-I on the HEAL Data2Action Modeling and Economic Resource Center, she works on a meta-modeling project that combines three distinct models to improve predictive performance. Beyond her primary research on hepatitis C, she has contributed to a broad portfolio of infectious disease research, including vector-borne diseases, COVID-19, HIV, and sexually transmitted infections. -
