Biography
Dr. Beauchamps is an Infectious Disease associate professor with expertise in comprehensive HIV care, HIV prevention, and STI prevention and treatment in vulnerable populations. She is a clinical educator and participates actively in research. Her work emphasizes lowering community HIV viral burden through increasing antiretroviral use and increasing the uptake of use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) in areas with high prevalence of HIV. Dr. Beauchamps provides HIV care and prevention to communities at risk of HIV throughout her career in several cities with high incidence of HIV infection (New York, New Orleans, and Jackson, MS). Dr. Beauchamps has participated in several research studies involving young people at risk of HIV, and informed the first steps to implementation of HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis in Jackson, Mississippi. At the University of Miami, Dr. Beauchamps’ efforts concentrate in tailoring PrEP programs to the unique needs utilizing mixed methods research and social network analysis in collaboration with University of Miami Department of Public Health. She has created tailored programs offering PrEP bundled treatment to increase uptake and retention. She is passionate in providing excellent HIV care from the moment the person is diagnosed. She firmly believes in immediate antiretroviral treatment initiation and linkage to care. She has established strong connections with community partners, which have collaborated in Dr. Beauchamps’ research studies part of the Ending the HIV Epidemic in the US Initiative. -
