Biography
Dr. Latha Chandran served as the Executive Dean for Education and Policy and the Bernard J. Fogel Founding Chair of the Department of Medical Education at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. In this role, she led the implementation of the innovative NextGenMD curriculum in 2020.
In addition to overseeing the NextGenMD curriculum, Dr. Chandran supervised all graduate medical education and continuing medical education programs, as well as the university’s Biomedical Master’s and PhD programs. She also directed the Academy of Medical Education Scholars at the Miller School of Medicine, focusing on advancing educational scholarship.
Dr. Chandran co-founded the award-winning Educational Scholars Program, a national faculty development initiative fostering educational scholarship among junior pediatric educators.
Dr. Chandran’s professional accolades include membership in the National Academy of Distinguished Educators in Pediatrics and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She has also served in leadership roles such as President of the Academic Pediatric Association, Treasurer and Vice Chair of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and as a curriculum and LCME consultant to medical schools nationwide.
Her dedication to advancing medical education continues to inspire the next generation of health care leaders at the Miller School of Medicine and beyond. -
