Biography
Dr. Kim Caban is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and an attending radiologist at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she has specialized in trauma and emergency radiology since 2007. She currently serves as Associate Division Director and Fellowship Director of the Emergency/Trauma Radiology Division.
Dr. Caban earned her bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Miami and her master’s in Biomedical Science from Barry University. She received her medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and completed her internship, diagnostic radiology residency, and MRI fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital. She is board certified by the American Board of Radiology.
A recognized expert in emergency and trauma imaging, Dr. Caban has authored multiple book chapters and peer-reviewed publications, including contributions to Current Therapy for Trauma and Surgical Critical Care and Problem Solving in Emergency Radiology. Her research has focused on penetrating thoracic and abdominal trauma, vascular emergencies, and the application of multidetector CT in acute care. She has presented her work nationally at the Radiological Society of North America and the American Society of Emergency Radiology, where she also serves on national committees.
Dedicated to teaching, Dr. Caban has trained countless residents, fellows, and medical students in emergency radiology and plays a key role in fellowship education and residency selection. She is an active member of the Radiological Society of North America, Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, American Roentgen Ray Society, Society of Computed Body Tomography and Magnetic Resonance, and the American Society of Emergency Radiology. -
