• Research Interests

  The outgrowth of treatment-resistant cancer stem cells is a serious clinical problem driving disease relapse and metastasis, the main cause of cancer death. Our research focuses on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), a highly aggressive and treatment-resistant breast cancer subtype, and the aquisition of endocrine resistance in estrogen receptor-positive breast cancers. Specifically, we study novel WNT transcriptional mechanisms in the control of cancer stem cell formation and epithelial lineage plasticity underlying metastatic progression and therapy resistance, with the goal to develop novel treatments for cancer stem cell-targeted anti-cancer therapy. For our studies, we use mouse and human cell models of breast cancer, including patient-derived in combination with multi-omics, proteomics, and stem cell analysis.
