Biography
Dr. Judite Blanc is a multi-award-winning Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the founding director of the Holistic Families Lab (H.F.L.) at the same institution. She earned a Bachelor of Science in General Psychology from the State University of Haiti in 2007, followed by a master’s degree in health psychology and Psychopathology from Université de Toulouse 2 in 2011, and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Université de Paris 13 Sorbonne Paris Cité in 2015. In 2021, she completed a three-year, NIH-funded postdoctoral fellowship in Population Health at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, where she received comprehensive training and conducted applied research in sleep health and behavioral cardiovascular medicine.
As an NIH-funded scientist and FEMTECH expert, Dr. Blanc serves as Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI on several federally funded and pilot digital health studies, including the Realist Women Study (1K01HL175286-01) and the Cocooned Moms Study (1R41NR021628-01). Her initiatives have collectively resulted in more than 90 peer-reviewed and lay publications, contributing significantly to the understanding of how chronic stress and trauma adversely affect health outcomes, particularly mental health, sleep, and cardiometabolic health among immigrant populations and mother-offspring dyads. Her work highlights the importance of resilience and protective mechanisms throughout life. Additionally, Dr. Blanc’s recent work has demonstrated that immersive technology-based mental health interventions can be a valuable tool in the self-care toolkit for perinatal women.
In recognition of her contributions to behavioral and social sciences, Dr. Blanc was selected as a 2025 NIH Matilda White Riley Behavioral and Social Sciences Honoree. A respected authority on intergenerational trauma, her work appears in the edited volume "Psychological Legacy of Slavery: Essays on Traumas, Healing, and the Living Past," which was named one of the best academic books of 2022 by Choice, a publication of the Association of College and Research Libraries. Dr. Blanc's research and commentary have been featured in leading academic journals, including The American Psychologist, Circulation, and JAMA Network, as well as in prominent media outlets such as CNN, The Washington Post, Forbes, Democracy Now!, USA Today, Ici-Radio Canada, RFI, and MedPage Today.
