Biography
Dr. Meizoso completed his undergraduate, medical school, and public health training at the University of Miami and his general surgery residency at the Jackson Memorial Hospital / University of Miami Medical Center General Surgery Residency Training Program in 2019. He then went on to pursue fellowships in surgical critical care, trauma, and acute care surgery at the Ernest E. Moore Shock Trauma Center at Denver Health Medical Center and the University of Colorado, which he completed in 2021.
Dr. Meizoso specializes in the management of patients with severe injury, emergency general surgery conditions, and need for surgical critical care. He is an attending surgeon and surgical intensivist at the Ryder Trauma Center, Jackson Memorial Hospital, UHealth Tower, and Jackson South Medical Center, and is double board-certified in Surgery and Surgical Critical Care by the American Board of Surgery. -

Teaching Interests
Dr. Meizoso's clinical teaching interests include the management of complex hepatic and vascular injuries, blunt cerebrovascular injuries, complex pelvic fracture-associated hemorrhage, shock, optimal blood transfusion strategies, damage control resuscitation, and management of venous thromboembolism in trauma patients. -
Research Interests
Dr. Meizoso’s research interests include the pathophysiology and treatment of shock, including optimal blood product resuscitation techniques, as well as trauma-induced coagulopathy, disorder of fibrinolysis after trauma, postinjury venous thromboembolism, implementation of viscoelastic testing, and prehospital care. -
