Dr. Coto’s clinical and research work focuses on understanding how chronic and life-threatening medical conditions affect children’s cognitive, emotional, social, and behavioral development. She has specialized training in pediatric psychology and has worked extensively with youth affected by traumatic brain injury, cancer, sickle cell disease, and hearing loss. Her clinical practice emphasizes supporting adjustment to diagnosis and treatment, strengthening coping skills, and promoting family resilience and treatment adherence. Her research aims to improve psychosocial outcomes and quality of life for medically complex children and adolescents through evidence-based interventions, patient-reported outcomes, and integrated models of care that can be implemented in real-world healthcare settings.
