Dr. Munoz Pareja was born, raised, and partially educated in Colombia at Universidad del Norte. She completed her pediatric residency training at Nicklaus Children's Hospital and her pediatric critical care fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in the Harvard Medical School system. Dr. Munoz's research focuses on utilizing brain biomarkers to help diagnose and prognosticate brain injury response and repair after different neurological insults. She is a strong patient advocate and aims to contribute to traumatic brain injury medical advancements through her research. In addition, she is very passionate about medical education and has received further training as an advanced simulation instructor at the Center for Medical Simulation at Harvard Medical School. Her primary focus is on utilizing simulation in outreach settings as a novel approach to building sustainability. She has been the recipient of several educational awards throughout her career. Currently, Dr. Munoz is the associate program director of the pediatric critical care fellowship at the University of Miami. Furthermore, Dr. Munoz has a strong interest in providing high-quality healthcare to underserved populations and is currently an active member of several international organizations that focus on bringing the best medical and surgical care to children across the globe.
