Biography
Dr. Javier Pagan was born and raised in Ponce, PR, and attended the Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences graduating with honors in 2012. Following medical school, he completed his internal medicine residency and Nephrology fellowship at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital. He completed an advanced fellowship in transplant Nephrology at the Miami Transplant Institute in 2018. Following his training he joined the faculty at the Katz Family Division of Nephrology & Hypertension as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine. Dr. Pagan is a co-investigator in the THINKER-NEXT study which is an NIH funded study designed to investigate the outcomes of HCV-negative patients transplanted with an HCV-infected donor. His clinical focus has been the care of kidney transplant recipients with a special focus on patients who have received a simultaneous liver-kidney transplant. He also serves as the director of the transplant nephrology fellowship program. -
