Biography
Dr. Rosa-Cunha is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Infectious Diseases at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. A leading expert in HPV-related diseases and anal cancer prevention, she focuses on underserved populations, particularly individuals living with HIV.
She serves as Director of Clinical Research at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (MSOM), the Medical Director of the Clinical Core Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and the Co-chair of the Infection and Cancer group at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. She founded the region’s only Anal Dysplasia Clinics at Sylvester and Jackson Memorial Hospital, pioneering anal cancer screening in South Florida. Dr. Rosa-Cunha is the local Principal Investigator for the landmark ANCHOR study, whose findings—published in the New England Journal of Medicine—informed the first U.S. federal guidelines for anal cancer screening in HIV-positive individuals.
Her research portfolio includes NIH RO1 grant on screening strategies and social determinants of health, and the NIH U54 on advancing outreach and interventions for anal and cervical cancer prevention.
Dr. Rosa-Cunha co-established the WISH Clinic and the Women Anal Dysplasia Clinic, providing comprehensive HIV care and cancer prevention for women. She also developed a unique Infectious Disease Fellowship curriculum in Anal Cancer Prevention, offering specialized training in anal HPV screening and dysplasia management. Her work continues to shape clinical practice and improve outcomes for high-risk populations. -

Teaching Interests
I have had a wide range of teaching responsibilities within the areas of continuing medical education and community-based education, undergraduate and graduate (residency and fellowship) medical education, in addition to engagement with graduate students (MPH and PhD) through mentorship, advising, and committee service.
I serve as core faculty within the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Program for University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital. I also serve as research mentor for fellows and students.I have created the Infectious Diseases Fellowship curriculum in Anal HPV Screening for individuals at increased risk for anal cancer, this is a unique experience offered at our program. -
